The PixelScrapper April 2015 Blog Train is out, and this month’s palette is so bright you can’t help but smile. Lots of blues in shades from day and night summer skies and tropical beaches, with a bright sunny yellow to make it pop, oyster white, faded black and a bluish green to round it out.
This palette spoke to me at first, whispering of reflected summer skies, but the elements kept trying to go art-journal on me. I ended up with a lot of painted bits: frames, mats/photomasks, doodled flowers and leaves, even a bit of word art that ended up getting paint. Some photos I took at a car show a few years ago turned into painted art cards for this, as well. I get going in ArtRage and lose an hour painting basic bits and discover I’ve created 100 of them!! I was having so much fun creating all this that it was extremely frustrating to get hit with a migraine-level headache mid-March; I spent nearly two weeks with it before it finally went away enough for me to get back to designing for you. And pretty much all I’ve done since then is QC and previews on what I already had done pre-migraine, though I’ve finished a few elements that were in progress and done a couple more journal/art cards. I may well add a few pieces to this at some point or even build the something like 70 papers into a full kit.
So, without further ado, here’s what I have for you this month. (Pictures, as always, are linked to larger images.)
I started off with some solid papers, and a few gradients made with this month’s colors, and got well into creating patterned papers before the art-journal aspect made itself known, so there are a LOT of papers here. My original plan was to have very simple solid-colored frames with them, and I know there are some of those in other kits, so I’m not concerned about releasing the patterns to mingle with the other designers’ work. 😉 I did, however, make some of my papers into an artsy pack (Papers 2) if you want just those. Please note that Papers 5 is a PU-only pack, as that vine pattern is for non-commercial use.

This is such a wonderful addition to the Reflection BT. Your casual doodle elements have a spring-like air. And I love the floral papers. It was so sweet of you to continue to complete the set while you were under the weather. Hugs….
